Lace Wig Installation Checklist: What to Confirm Before Buying
October 22, 2026
A product name can tell you the hair texture and lace construction while leaving the installation method unanswered. Before buying a lace wig, find out what you will need to do when it arrives. This lace wig installation checklist is for asking those questions before checkout, especially if you want to put the wig on yourself.
Read the specification before planning the install
The YOOME HAIR straight Vietnamese hair wig is currently listed with a 5×5 HD lace closure and lengths of 10, 12, 16, 18 and 20 inches. Those are useful product details. They do not, by themselves, confirm that the lace arrives pre-cut, that the knots are bleached or that the wig is intended for wear without adhesive.
Keep a short note with two columns: details stated on the product page, and details you still need confirmed. Put the exact product name and selected length at the top. That prevents a reply about another style from becoming your installation plan.
Ask whether the lace needs preparation
Ask what condition the lace will be in when delivered. Is it already cut, or does it require trimming? Are any other preparation steps recommended for this specific wig? If you do not understand the answer, request a close-up photograph or a written explanation before deciding whether to do the work yourself.
A finished hairstyle in a product photograph does not show every step used to prepare it. The same applies to a neat-looking hairline: ask which features are included in the item you will receive rather than assuming the pictured finish requires no work.
Confirm the fastening method separately
If you want to avoid adhesive, say that directly: “Is this exact wig designed to be worn without adhesive, and what holds it in place?” Ask which straps, bands, combs or other fastening features are included. Request an inside-cap photo if the product images do not show them.
Do not treat the words “HD lace” as an answer about fastening. Also avoid buying an accessory on the assumption that it will solve a fit problem. Confirm the intended setup first, including any separately sold items, so you know what the quoted product price covers.
Check cap fit before choosing tools
Send your measurements when asking about fit. Our wig cap measuring guide explains how to record circumference, front-to-back and ear-to-ear measurements. Ask us to compare those readings with the measurements and adjustment range of the style you want.
A hair length such as 16 inches is not a cap measurement. If you are also comparing lengths, use our straight wig length guide for that decision. Resolve fit and installation questions before using a preferred length as the reason to place the order.
Decide who will prepare and fit the wig
Once you have the product-specific instructions, read through the tasks you would need to do. If trimming or fitting is unfamiliar, ask a stylist whether they can work with that construction and what their appointment includes. Share the product details with them rather than booking based only on a hairstyle photo.
Ask about the cost and timing of any preparation separately from the wig price. Do not assume that a product purchase includes an installation appointment, supplies or adjustments. If you need the wig for an event, confirm both the order details and any appointment before committing to a date.
Use this message before checkout
“I am considering (product name and selected length). I would like to wear it (with professional help or by myself). Can you confirm whether the lace is pre-cut, what preparation is required, the included fastening features and whether this exact style is intended for wear without adhesive? Please also confirm the cap measurements and any extra items I would need.”
Send the message through YOOME HAIR support. Keep the reply with your order notes. If a detail is still unclear, ask one specific follow-up rather than filling the gap with a claim from another product or a tutorial about a different wig.
Keep the instructions for later
Save the confirmed preparation and care instructions before your first wear. The lace section of our hair guide and our 5×5 closure buying guide can help you read the terminology. Follow the instructions supplied for the actual wig when it arrives, and ask us about any mismatch before cutting or altering it.
